We have received inquiries regarding the plan for continuing education operations in the event of closure due to the Coronavirus, as well as the status of future field trips. In the event that school is closed due to the Coronavirus, the school is working on being able to provide live online classroom instruction. To facilitate this, please complete this survey https://techsurvey.page.link/student-nv . This survey will evaluate internet connectivity in the home and access to necessary equipment. We appreciate you completing the survey if you have not already done so.
The School is regularly monitoring updates regarding the Coronavirus. Any closure of the School will be done in consultation with and under the direction of the Southern Nevada Health District. It is our hope that this step will not be necessary and are aware of no school closures in Clark County.
With regard to field trips, any alteration or cancellation of school travel will be done in accordance with the recommendation and guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (“CDC”). As of March 9, 2020, the only interstate travel advisory from the CDC states that people at risk for serious illness from COVID-19 (older adults and individuals with serious chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease) should avoid cruises and non-essential air travel. If these restrictions apply to you or your student please contact the school to discuss appropriate accommodations. We will continue to monitor the CDC, the Southern Nevada Health District, and the health districts in the states where the field trips will take place.
In regards to preventative measures, to help keep our school clean, we are working with our cleaning crews to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken in the cleaning of our building. Additionally, the School is requiring that all teachers review the video in this link regarding proper handwashing https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/videos.html. Teachers are also proactively teaching children on the proper techniques for handwashing and good hygiene habits.
Lastly, as the situation is fluid, we will provide additional updates as needed.
